Claude Comes Directly to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
Anthropic is bringing Claude directly into Google Workspace, allowing paid users to create and edit Docs, Sheets and Slides through Claude while maintaining approval controls and version history.
Anthropic has launched a public beta of Claude’s Google Workspace integration, giving paid Google Workspace users the ability to work with Docs, Sheets and Slides directly through Claude.
The integration places Claude in a sidebar, allowing users to create or open Workspace files while continuing their conversation with the AI. Claude can then help edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations in real time, with users retaining control over proposed changes.
An important feature is that approved modifications are tracked through Google’s version history, making it easier for teams to review changes and restore earlier versions when necessary.
The integration could be particularly useful for professionals who already spend much of their day inside Google Workspace. Instead of switching between an AI chatbot and individual productivity applications, users can bring AI assistance directly into their existing workflows.
For marketers, agencies and business teams, this could simplify tasks such as drafting proposals, analyzing spreadsheet data, preparing presentations and refining business documents.
The move also intensifies competition between Anthropic and Google, as Claude enters workflows traditionally associated with Google’s own Gemini ecosystem.
More broadly, it signals a shift from standalone AI chatbots toward AI assistants embedded directly inside everyday productivity software.
