WhatsApp is introducing scheduled messages on Android, a long-requested feature that lets users choose when their messages should be delivered. The feature is rolling out to select beta testers through WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.40.7.
Users can compose a message, tap and hold the send button, and select a delivery date and time. The feature supports text, links, photos and videos in individual and group chats. Messages can reportedly be scheduled from 10 minutes to two weeks ahead.
Once scheduled, messages are sent automatically at the selected time, even if WhatsApp is closed or the device is offline. Users can also view, manage or delete pending messages through a dedicated section in the chat information screen.
For marketers, creators and small businesses, scheduled messaging could simplify reminders, appointment confirmations, birthday greetings and planned customer follow-ups without relying on separate workarounds.
The feature is currently limited to selected beta users, and WhatsApp has not announced a general release date. Availability is expected to expand gradually over the coming weeks.
The takeaway: Native message scheduling could make WhatsApp more useful for everyday communication and business workflows, bringing a familiar productivity feature directly into the messaging app.
