Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5 for Faster, Lower-Cost AI Agents
Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 brings higher performance, faster inference and significantly lower costs to high-volume AI workloads, making it well suited for real-time assistants, automation, coding...
Anthropic has introduced Claude Haiku 5.5, its latest small AI model built for speed, efficiency and high-volume workloads. The company describes it as its fastest and most capable Haiku model so far, targeting use cases where performance and cost both matter.
Haiku 5.5 is designed for tasks such as summarization, classification, database queries, request routing and real-time customer support. It can also work as a cost-efficient subagent for larger AI systems, handling focused coding and repetitive tasks while more capable models manage complex reasoning.
One of the biggest changes is pricing. For prompts up to 100K tokens, Haiku 5.5 costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Anthropic says it is around 75% cheaper to run on average than Haiku 4.5.
The model is also Anthropic’s first Haiku model with an adjustable effort setting, allowing developers to balance intelligence against cost and speed. It is available through Claude, Claude Code and major cloud platforms.
For businesses and marketers, the opportunity is straightforward: more AI-powered automation at lower operating costs.
