Higgsfield AI has unveiled Passport Rush, a high-energy animated short that demonstrates how traditional animation workflows can be combined with generative AI to accelerate production.
The project follows a hybrid pipeline that begins with 2D storyboards, moves into 3D previsualization in Blender, and then uses AI models including Seedance 2.5 and Soul 2.0 to create the final scenes.
The team produced 18 scenes featuring a fast-paced car chase in just three days. Rather than handing complete creative control to AI, the filmmakers established camera movements, compositions and timing during the planning stages. This allowed the AI tools to operate within a clearly defined creative framework.
One of the most interesting aspects of the project is its open approach. Higgsfield has shared the storyboards, Blender files, prompts and production workflow, along with a 28-minute breakdown explaining how the film was created.
For filmmakers, marketers and content creators, the project highlights a broader shift in AI-assisted production. Generative AI can handle parts of the execution while artists continue to control storytelling, direction, composition and creative decisions.
Passport Rush suggests that the future of AI filmmaking may not be about replacing traditional skills, but about combining them with faster AI-powered production tools.
