WhatsApp has rolled out an optional AI assistant called Writing Help, designed to make your chats clearer, more polished, and on-point—with just a tap. Think of it as smart assistance for phrasing: whether you want a message to sound more professional, funnier, or simply grammatically correct, Writing Help has you covered.
How It Works
- To use it, just draft a message in a one-on-one or group chat.
- Look for the pencil icon that replaces the usual sticker icon in the text field.
- Tap it to see AI-generated suggestions in styles like rephrase, professional, funny, supportive, or proofread.
- You can select a suggestion or tweak it further before sending it—giving you full control over your words.
Privacy First with Meta’s Private Processing
The best part? Your messages are processed using Meta’s Private Processing technology—which means:
- WhatsApp or Meta never see your original message or the AI suggestions.
- Everything is encrypted, anonymized, and not stored once done.
- The feature is opt-in—off by default, available only if you enable it in Settings.
